They say that John Ford is the best director in the history of cinema. That 'Centauros del desierto' ('The Searchers', 1956) is one of the best westerns ever filmed, untouchable. Like many of the master's other films, which nobody, or very few, dare to evoke. The Frenchman Thomas Bidegain, until now known for his scripts for Jacques Audiard, debuts behind the camera with an idea of his own, that of bringing the film starring John Wayne to our times.

The emptiness he leaves in the family, especially in the father and brother of the "runaway" - who practically follows his father out of habit after so long - gives way to a terrible obsession to know the answers to the most obvious questions. An obsession that becomes fatalistic to unimaginable levels, not only because of the huge plot twist in the middle of the film -a very powerful sequence, by the way-, but also because of the world in which father and son enter in search of a loved one.

It is Mi Gran Noche (2015), a comedy by Álex de la Iglesia in which Raphael plays Alphonso, an award-winning singer who is involved in an eternal recording of a New Year's Eve special without knowing that his life is in danger.

Not content with all that this already satirizes about a considerable slant of the worst that our country has to offer, the pair of screenwriters fills the action with cynical readings about the power of fame as seen through two very different characters, those played by Mario Casas and Raphael. Both stand out as the best of the cast, the former for the way he represents the brainless idols of the adolescent masses, the latter for the precision with which he parodies himself and by extension all the divas of the world of "artistry", but it is nevertheless the veteran singer who takes the cake as the best of the show in interpretative terms.

Miguel Rafael Martos Sánchez[a] (nacido el 5 de mayo de 1943), a menudo llamado simplemente Raphael, es un cantante y actor de televisión, cine y teatro español. Raphael es reconocido como uno de los cantantes españoles de mayor éxito en el mundo, habiendo vendido más de 70 millones de discos en todo el mundo en 7 idiomas.

Raphael comenzó su carrera profesional firmando con el sello discográfico holandés Philips. Para distinguirse, adoptó la "ph" del nombre de la compañía y se bautizó como 'Raphael'. Sus primeros singles fueron "Te voy a contar mi vida" y "A pesar de todo", entre otros. Raphael adoptó desde el principio su peculiar estilo de cantar; es conocido por actuar cada una de sus canciones mientras está en el escenario, enfatizando sus gestos con alto efecto dramático.
